Established in 1992, the Ontario Woodlot Association (OWA) is a not-for-profit organization governed by an elected, volunteer board of directors. Our members own and manage woodlots throughout the province and include individuals and organizations that support our goals. We are working to ensure that Ontario’s privately owned forests will continue to contribute to the health of our society, our environment and the economy.
The work undertaken by the OWA and its chapters is funded from a number of sources including membership fees, foundation and government grants, as well as donations.
Since 2011, the OWA has developed and spearheaded a Champion Donor Program (CDP) to generate funds to continue to provide our services. With these funds, the OWA is better positioned to stay on top of key issues such as invasive species, climate change, species at risk, watershed management, wildlife protection etc. All funds are applied to OWA’s objectives and to provide woodlot owners with relevant woodlot tours, workshops, newsletters and other publications, hands-on-activities, woodlot conferences, etc.
Donors in our program shall:
- receive a thank you note for their donation;
- be recognized in an issue of the S&W Report newsletter;
- be recognized on the OWA website, and
- be recognized at the OWA Provincial Annual General Meeting and woodlot conference.
