This 2-day course provides first aid training as well as a
practical perspective on dealing with common woodlot
and wilderness injuries through to life threatening
situations. The course is divided between classroom and
practical skills.
The training is provided by Canadian Wilderness Medical
Training and includes training materials and certification
to standard first aid and CPR certification in addition to
the Wilderness First Aid Certification. SFA certification is
provided by the Emergency Care and Safety Institute,
which is recognized by Industry Canada to comply with
National workplace safety Standards.
This course is for individuals to learn first aid and gain an
understanding of decision-making in remote
environments where 911 is hours away.
Although it is being hosted in person, any OWA member can attend. You will need to find your own local place to stay overnight if you travelling a far distance for the event.
