Approximately 1-2 days prior to the webinar you will receive an invitation to attend along with login instructions. Presentations may be subject to change.

Day 1: February 1. Legislation Updates 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

This lunch hour is dedicated to new issues/ legislation. Lacey will address changes to the Endangered Species Act/Migratory Birds Act while Sommer will speak on Bill 23-More Homes Built Faster Act 2022 and their implications to the Conservation Authorities, Municipalities and landowners.

Part 1: Stuff You Should Know, 2022-23 Forestry Edition

Lacey Rose, RPF, Renfrew County Forester

Lacey Rose grew up on the 53° N parallel in Labrador City, NL. She graduated from the University of New Brunswick in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry and has been a Registered Professional Forester in Ontario since 2008. Lacey has been the County Forester for the County of Renfrew for 11 years, managing the 6,500 hectares of forest owned by the County. Outside of this role, Lacey is the Co-Founder of Women in Wood, a network for women who work with, in and for the woods, and the host of the web-series “Mighty Jobs”.

Part 2: What Bill 23 Will Mean Locally

Sommer Casgrain-Robertson, General Manager, Rideau Valley Conservation Authority

Sommer grew up on a small family farm in Eastern Ontario, on the banks of the St. Lawrence River. As the seventh generation of her family to be raised on that farm, Sommer learned firsthand through woodlot management, farming practices and waterfront living that everything in the natural environment is connected and that decisions we make today impact our land, health and communities tomorrow. Since graduating from Queen’s University in 2001, Sommer has been fortunate to work for the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority and in 2013 she became the General Manager.
