Jumping Worms: What you Need to Know, and How You Can Help Prevent Their Spread

Organized by: St. Lawrence Eastern Lake Ontario Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (SLELO PRISM)

Jumping worms are invasive earthworms that reduce soil health in urbanized landscapes and forested areas. This invasive worm easily goes unnoticed and can unknowingly be spread by the introduction of infested soil from potted or transplanted plants. Jumping worms have been reported present in [New York State] in the Eastern Lake Ontario Region, and are likely present but under-reported in other areas of New York State. Please join us on March 1st, 1 pm - 2:15 pm for an informative webinar to learn how to recognize jumping worms, what to do if you find them, and how you can help prevent their spread. If you are a gardener or plant nursery owner, we strongly encourage you to join as you can greatly assist with spread prevention initiatives.
