How to Conduct a Sustainable Forest Operation on your Land

Please join us for a walk in the woods with Ernie Demuth, Forester for the Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve. We will observe a one year sustainable harvest cut, learn about various  Silviculture methods covering‎; selection harvest, red pine management, crop tree release, shelterwood systems, tree marking and more. Discuss how to prepare a forest operation prescription and examine what are the costs and recovery ‎from an operation.  How contracts are established and working with a logging contractor are also on the agenda. Additional topics cover the Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program and the protection of  wildlife, water quality  and species diversity within your woodlot.

A light lunch will be served.
