About the Norfolk Chapter

Founded in 1996, the Norfolk Woodlot Owners Association (NWOA) calls Norfolk County, Ontario its home. In the heart of Canada’s Carolinian Forest region in southwestern Ontario, the NWOA works to assist all members in their understanding of how to manage and conserve their woodlots.  NWOA also strives to represents the interests of woodlot owners and provide resources for all matters related to woodland management in Norfolk County. NWOA became an official chapter of the OWA in 2022 after a one-year trial to experience the value and relevance of joining the OWA.

Our mission is “to promote wise use and stewardship of Norfolk’s woodlot”.

The NWOA hosts a variety of events and workshops for members each year. Examples include:

  • Annual General Meeting including forestry information vendors, information displays and guest lecturers;
  • Tours through private and public forests looking at various woodland management topics such as tree marking, commercial harvesting, Species at Risk, and the management of tree pests and diseases; and
  • Tours of local lumber mills and tree nurseries.
